Blacklisters

The band formed in 2008, quickly earning a reputation as a formidable live act through aggressive, confrontational performances riddled with dark humour. In 2009, their Swords 7” was released on Leeds label Best Enemies Records to critical acclaim. 2010 saw the release of the Belt Party EP on Childhood Sweetheart Records, run by Lee Vincent of Pulled Apart by Horses. This release gained the band further positive reviews and coverage in national press, such as Artrocker Magazine’s Singles of the Week.

Their live reputation also continued to grow in 2010 through gigs with Melt Banana, Rolo Tomassi and Chickenhawk amongst others, joining tours by Pulled Apart by Horses and Kong, and playing Leeds and Reading Festivals. The band rounded off 2010 by recording a new track with Ross Halden (Chickenhawk/Forward Russia) for a forthcoming 10” split between Brew and Dance to the Radio.

Blacklisters are returning to the studio imminently to record their debut album due for release early 2012.

Quotes:

Blacklisters tear up, chew up and piss on that paper. A wonderful wake up call – Drowned in Sound

A tightly controlled and dramatic piece of hardcore music; it’s like a gun that’s aimed but not fired – and all the more terrifying for it. 4/5 – Artrocker Magazine
