sigur rós are probably the most beautiful sounding band of all time. they hail from iceland, and rightly claim to bring you the beautiful landscape of their homeland to you with their music. its impossible to justify it with words, you have to listen to it to understand. check out the official website and download some stuff. you'll never be the same again... their live shows have to been seen to be believed. they reproduce the incredible, haunting, atmospheric beauty of the albums and much much more. the times i've seen them have almost brought me to tears. i will never forget looking round the london festival hall after their recent show there and finding that half the people were still rooted to the spot and the other half had tears in their eyes. never before has a band had such an effect on people. its no wonder that they have been top ten in the icelandic charts for 50 weeks (and is still going strong), and its only a matter of time before the rest of us catch on.
