Okay, Anglophiles, start your engines: Everyone heading to Austin for SXSW in a few weeks will want to be on top of British Music at SXSW2008 which collectively will be showcasing and day-partying nearly every minute of the festival. Events begin Wed, March 12th at the “British Music Embassy,” the central base for this new initiative located at Latitude 30 (512 San Jacinto Blvd), commencing with Belfast Nashville Sister City, featuring Foy Vance, Beth Nielsen-Chapman, Brian Houston and many more. Pure Groove, a London based shop specializing in vinyl, merchandise, tickets and magazines will also be setting up a British Music record store inside the ‘British Music Embassy' for the duration of the festival.

The campaign will officially launch with the annual British BBQ at Brush Square on March 13th, who last year helped catapult the career of five-time Grammy Award winner Amy Winehouse, and this year features UK #1 album title-holder Scouting for Girls and The Rascals.

"Music has always been one of Britain's greatest and most important exports, showcasing the innate energy, originality and authenticity of Britain's creative talent," commends Lord Digby Jones, UK Minister for Trade & Investment. "For tomorrow's stars, South by Southwest is the only show in town, providing a chance toperform in front of the global industry's real movers and shakers. That's why we're growing the British presence at SXSW and, with a number of exciting and eclectic acts appearing at the ‘British Music Embassy' this year, British music is proving it strikes a powerful chord on the world's stage."

Crispin Parry of British Underground adds, "It is extraordinary to see so many great music makers from all over the UK heading out to Austin to showcase their diverse and eclectic talents at SxSW2008. The British music scene, particularly in the independent and alternative sector, is riding a creative wave and the nigh on 150 UK acts descending on Texas are a good reflection of a nation that takes the art and craft of music seriously."

The British Music at SXSW2008 initiative will not only be represented in events and its central locale, the group will also print a guide-book in association with Mojo, Q and Kerrang! that will include all UK artists and delegates. This guide-book will be distributed in the ‘British Music Embassy' branded SXSW delegate bag given out to all registrants. A British Music at SXSW2008 stand will also host networking events in the convention center itself.
