The Reels

Emerging from the fertile Sydney post-punk scene in 1979, The Reels epitomised all that was good about often misused term 'new wave' via such memorable tracks as Prefab Heart, Love Will Find A Way and After the News. Such creative minds could not be pinned down to one style though, and the release in 1981 of Quasimodos Dream (voted as one of the top ten Australian songs of all time by APRA in 2001), followed by the concept album Beautiful (for novelty label K-Tel) in 1982 and covers album Neighbors in 1988 saw the band remembered as cerebral more so than kitsch. A reformation in 2008 brought with it an audience of full-houses again.
