Mt. Buller Alpine Resort is situated 248kms north east of Melbourne, an easy three hour drive from the city.
The closest service town to Mt. Buller is Mansfield, which is located 48km away from the resort, en route from Melbourne. It's a great place to stock up on supplies, grab a bite to eat and stretch your legs before you reach Buller. It is also the last place to buy petrol if you are driving.
By air
Mt. Buller can be accessed via a number of airports. The best options are as follows:
- Melbourne Tullamarine (domestic and international)
- Melbourne Avalon (domestic)
- Albury (domestic - regional)
For either of the Melbourne airports, you will have to catch a shuttle bus, taxi or transfer service to the Melbourne CBD. From Melbourne, you can catch a V/Line bus that will take you to Mansfield and then on to Mt. Buller (please see below info on bus services).
Alternatively, you can hire a car from the airport and drive directly to Buller.
By bus
Timetable and connection information for those departing on Thursday or Friday and returning on Sunday is as follows:

V/Line bus service from Southern Cross to Mansfield.
Departs: 8:35am
Arrives: 11:35am
ATP bus service from Mansfield to Mt. Buller.
Departs: midday (meeting the 11.35 V/Line)
Arrives: 12:45pm
Note: Only the morning V/Line bus departure from Melbourne will connect with the ATP bus service in Mansfield. If you're on the evening bus service from Melbourne you will need to arrange alternative transport to the mountain once you arrive in Mansfield.

Note: V/Line bus can collect passengers who book a ticket in advance from any of the following stops on the way to Mansfield:

By road
When driving, there are several different routes that you can take to get to Mt. Buller. The route you choose will depend on where you are leaving from:
- From Melbourne: Take Plenty Rd to Whittlesea, drive through Yea and on to Mansfield
- From Melbourne: Take the Hume Highway to Tallarook, drive through Yea and on to Mansfield
- From Melbourne: Take the Hume Highway to the Benalla/Mansfield turn off and continue on to Mansfield
- From Melbourne: Take the Melba Highway through Yarra Glen, drive through Yea and on to Mansfield
No matter which route you take from Melbourne to Mt. Buller you will eventually come to Mansfield - the closest major town to the resort. Pass through Mansfield and follow the signs to Mt. Buller. The Mansfield to Mt. Buller village trip is 48km long and takes 35 - 45 minutes.
Entry to the Mt. Buller Village
About 28 kms past Mansfield you will arrive at the Mirimbah Ticket Gate. You will need to stop here and show a valid ticket for each person in your vehicle. Tickets CANNOT be purchased at this point - you must purchase your ticket prior to arrival.
Once your ticket has been validated and exchanged for festival wristbands, you will be allowed to continue on your journey up to Mt. Buller.
Car Parking For the safety of all festival goers, general traffic is not permitted to enter the Mt. Buller Village. As such, when you reach the outskirts of the village you will be met by a parking attendant who will direct you to a parking spot. Where you park will be determined by whether you are staying overnight, or simply for the day. Parking is free.
Once you leave your car, you can access the Village via a number of ways:
Day visitors
You can board this chairlift free of charge and take a ride over to Spurs Restaurant. From Spurs, it is a short 10minute downhill walk to the main stage. Please note that bulky luggage cannot be taken on the chairlift - only backpacks and light luggage.
- A shuttle bus will be operating from the car parks that will take you to your accommodation.
- Walking - a brisk 15 minute walk uphill to the Village.
- The MMBL bus from Mansfield will take you into the Village.
