JAKE ARNOTT'S first book The Long Firm, was published in 1999 to huge public and critical acclaim, this was followed by He Kills Coppers (2001) and truecrime (2003) that formed a loose trilogy of novels that cover four decades of British political, social, criminal and pop cultural history. Johnny Come Home (2006) is set in 1972, during the summer of glam rock and the Angry Brigade. Arnott’s work has been translated into seven languages and his first two books have been adapted as award-winning television series.

At All Tomorrow’s Parties he will be reading from his new novel The Devil’s Paintbrush, an Edwardian epic of decadence, imperialism, drugs and sex-magic, based on the real-life meeting of the disgraced homosexual Empire hero Major-General Sir Hector Macdonald and Aleister Crowley, the notorious occultist, in Paris in 1903.
