Ethan Lipton's 'No Place To Go'

Ethan Lipton & his Orchestra present the UK debut of “No Place to Go,” their Obie-Award winning music theater piece. A critics pick in the NY Times, the show tells the hilarious and heartbreaking story of a man who learns that the company where he’s worked for 10 years is relocating to Mars. “No Place to Go” was commissioned by Joe’s Pub and produced by the Public Theater, and it’s been seen in venues from Vermont to Virginia to LA and New Jersey. Ethan Lipton & his Orchestra have been together since 2005 and released five albums (three studio, two live).  Comprised of Eben Levy (guitar), Ian Riggs (bass), Vito Dieterle (sax) and Lipton (vox), the quartet is based in NYC, where it’s played Bryant Park, Celebrate Brooklyn, the Bell House, Barbes, and everywhere in between. Dubbed the city's "Best Lounge Act" by New York Magazine, the band has been featured on Weekend Edition, The World and Soundcheck, as well as on the Clash cover album “Sandinista.” Songwriter Lipton is also a playwright whose works include Red-Handed Otter (Cherry Lane), Luther (HERE), The Barber and the Farmer (3LD, Motherlodge), Goodbye April Hello May (HERE), 100 Aspects of the Moon (the Ohio) and Meat (Edinburgh, Austria, the Powerhouse in LA).  Ethan has been an NYFA and NEA grantee and a member of the Public's Emerging Writers Group. He’s worked extensively with Clubbed Thumb and is currently the Playwright's Realm's Page One Resident.  He has been a Kesselring Prize nominee and has developed work with New York Stage and Film and the Lark. As a performer, he has worked with Laurie Anderson, Cynthia Hopkins, Elevator Repair Service and Matt Berninger. Band and play info at www.ethanlipton.com.
