Dam Mantle

Dam Mantle is the moniker of Tom Marshallsay; the reflective, Glasgow-incumbent artist and electronic producer whose debut album ‘Brothers Fowl' is the culmination of a long and varied musical path.

Tom moved to Glasgow four years ago to study at the School Of Art and has remained in the vibrant musical city ever since, working on a number of projects. Dam Mantle remains his core focus and continues to expand his unique approach to sound.

The last few years have been busy with three EPs released though the Get Me, Halleluwah Hits and his own Growing labels, as well as the U.S digital release 'First Wave', a number of splits, collaborations and reworkings.

Marshallsay has an entirely evident unabashed enthusiasm for sound; he delights in experimentation and creation, producing myriads of ideas. Releases have ranged from the other-worldly chamber orchestration found in his ‘Grey EP’ the menacing, electronic-infused hip hop of the ‘Purple Arrow EP’, or the joyfully eclectic bedlam of his ‘We EP’ release. ‘Brothers Fowl’ sees Mantle turning another corner, building the record with a similar palette of sounds and rhythms but bringing a noir-ish ambience to proceedings. It’s his most fully-realised statement and a fine culmination of the last three years of activity.

Dam Mantle's performances are central to the focus of the project. Over the past few years he has been on tour with his ally Gold Panda a number of times both in the US and Europe as well as touring extensively on his own terms at events and festivals across Europe.

When not recording and performing his own work, Dam Mantle has crafted inimitable and frequently astonishing remixes for labels such as Warp Records, Ninja Tune, Planet Mu, Ghostly and a wide variety of other artists.
