Claudio Simonetti's Goblin
After a long career mainly marked by composing the soundtracks for Dario Argento's movies, Claudio Simonetti and his band have returned on stage touring worldwide the most successful hits which made Italian progressive rock and horror movies soundtracks history.
Sold Out in Belfast, Oslo, London's Union Chapel and Electric Ballroom, Manchester's Gorilla, Milan, Headliner at Musklerock Festival (Sweden), a real triumph at the Roadburn Festival (Netherlands)with the personal invitation of Mikael Åkerfeldt from Opeth... those are only few of the more than successful performances of Claudio Simonetti's Goblin during 2014, touring all around the world with their famous themes and the live soundtrack shows.
GOBLIN
Goblin kick off their project in the early ‘70s inspired by prog bands like Yes, Genesis, King Crimson, Gentle Giant and Emerson, Lake & Palmer. In the early 1975 the band was called in to replace the composer Giorgio Gaslini - who had left the set during the filming of the cult movie "Profondo Rosso" (Deep Red) after an argument with the director Dario Argento. They re-wrote most of the score, including the famous main theme. It was an instant and unexpected success. More than one million copies sold, Over 52 weeks on the Italian charts, ranking no.1 in both the singles and LP categories.
Between '75 and '76 Goblin released an instrumental progressive rock album called "Roller".
- 1977 - Dario Argento called once again the band to write the soundtrack of "Suspiria".
- 1978 - Goblin recorded another successful soundtrack for the movie "Zombie" directed by George Romero and a concept album about drugs "Il Fantastico Viaggio Del Bagarozzo Mark".
During the following years, despite their success, after a series of line-up changes Goblin broke up temporarily, but there had a partial reunifications for Argento's "Tenebrae" (1982) and "Non Ho Sonno" (2000).
In 2013, Claudio Simonetti decided to reform the band under the name of Claudio Simonetti's Goblin, thanks also to the 40th anniversary of the cult movie Deep Red (1975), one of the many soundtracks who made them famous. The celebrations had a premiére during the Eutropia Festival in Rome, with a large audience and the presence of Dario Argento himself. An extraordinary success that allowed Claudio Simonetti's Goblin to play their music around the world. Twice sold out in London and in other towns in Uk. And then Dublin, Oslo, Norway, Holland, Finland, Austria, Hungary, USA and many others countries.
A result that gives the whole measure of the band's live act.
