Twerps join Release The Bats Melbourne; Forest Swords replaced by Prince Rama

Thursday 24th October, 2013

ATP's Release The Bats Melbourne event is approaching this Saturday. It all takes place at The Palais and Palace Bandroom in St Kilda on Saturday 26th October. Featuring Television performing their classic album 'Marquee Moon' in full, as well as The Breeders performing their landmark record 'Last Splash'; the lineup also includes legendary live bands such as Sleep, Lightning Bolt, Fuck Buttons, as well as Australia's own The Scientists and other local talent.

Halloween fancy dress is encouraged, and those dressed as something to do with one of the bands will be eligible to win some excellent prizes. One of the extracurricular highlights of our February I'll Be Your Mirror event, Pricasso, will return to paint some special Halloween portraits in his own inimitable style at the Prince Bandroom, and wristbanded ticketholders will be able to enjoy special discounts at selected local businesses and a free ride at nearby Luna Park.

Today we can confirm that Melbourne's own Twerps (only the third Aussie band ever to score a Best New Track on Pitchfork, after Cut Copy and Tame Impala!) are the final band to join the lineup for the event.

Sadly we must also announce that Forest Swords can no longer play. A statement from him:

"Due to unforeseen health issues I've been forced to pull out of both ATP Release The Bats and Pitchfork Festival Paris next week. I'm upset I won't be getting there this time around, but looking forward to returning to those cities in 2014."

Forest Swords will be replaced by Prince Rama from Brooklyn.
