Monday 5th August, 2013

This November ATP will be putting on two final UK holiday camp festivals in Camber Sands, UK under the banner The End Of An Era. The first weekend is sold out, with tickets available now for Weekend 2 curated by ATP & Loop. Tickets and more info on the event are available now from this link. See below for another in a series of mini interviews with bands playing the event. This time the fantastic GOAT have got back to us, and you can check out out a track from their amazing World Music album here at our Soundcloud...

Name Of Artist: Goat

Bio: Goat are a collective who hail from a small and very remote village in deepest darkest Sweden.

Legend has it that, for centuries, the inhabitants of the village were dedicated to the worship and practices of Voodoo. This strange and seemingly-unlikely activity was apparently introduced into the area after a travelling witch doctor and a handful of her disciples were led to the village by following an unknown Sami traveller from this area of Sweden.

The reason he led them there is unknown, but their Voodoo influence quickly took hold over the whole village, and so they made it their home. There they were able to practice their craft unnoticed and unbothered for several centuries.

This was until their non-Christian ways were discovered by the Church and they were burned out by the crusaders. But the survivors returned to the village, rebuilt it, and to this day the now-picturesque village is still influenced by the power of Voodoo; this power can be felt throughout the grooves of the Goat records.

Do your best to describe your sound in one sentence:

World Music

What are the most recent activities of your band?

We played Primavera Sound which was a blast.

How excited are you to play this event?

Very very excited!

How do you feel about being asked to play the last ever ATP holiday camp event?

Like a million bucks man!  Totally stoked, thanks a lot for the opportunity.

Do you have a connection with the curators / an idea why you were chosen to play?

No not that I know of at least, but my guess is they like the sound of Goat?

Which of your releases do you feel ATP attendees should check out first?

Well maybe the World Music LP first and then the new Stonegoat/Dreambuilding 7" or the other way around. Or if you wanna be really hardcore start out with the first Goatman 7". Any way will work out just fine.

Is there one of your tracks you think specifically represents you best?

Hard one.. I guess Goathead is a good place to start out if you are new to the sound of Goat.

Are there any other currently confirmed bands you're excited about seeing?

I am very Excited to see Comets on Fire!  Congratulations to the reunion! Also looking forward to Follakzoid their album rules.

If you were curating, name three bands you'd want to play your event...

Sylvester Anfang ii
Mark Fry
Spacemen 3

If you could pick one record release in the last year which would you recommend?

Medusa - First Step Beyond

And what's the best gig you've seen in the last year?

I really liked Dead Skeletons at the Austin psych fest & I also caught Aura Noir but that was late 2012 and they killed it as well. Holy Wave were awesome every single night during our US tour in April..

What have your previous experiences at ATP been like? Any favourite memories?

I am sorry to say I never took part before but I am sure this year is going to be full  of good experiences, nice people & fun times.
