Wednesday Happenings
Bands Whose Name One Cannot Say on Radio
Fuck Buttons brings back the days when rock shows were a shambles of drone and melody and shrieking. The Bristol, England duo managed to get their album recorded by Mogwai's John Cummings and mastered by Waltham homeboy (and Shellac veteran) Bob Weston, so they must be on to something. Playing with Canadian psychetronica ensemble Caribou. Paradise Rock Club, 967 Comm. Ave., 7:00pm. $15. (18+) (RS)
Movies
Sick of high gas prices? Well, do something about it. Zipcar is sponsoring a screening of National Geographic's An Arctic Tale. The event is designed to get people to take a big step and donate their vehicles to Cars for Homes. Brattle Theatre, 7:30, free. RSVP to rsvpBOS@zipcar.com.
DJs Dafna, Patrick, and Stella offer a crash course in hipster dance music as they present Gross Anatomy, a queer dance party. It's free, even for those who are straight and incognito. Milky Way Lounge and Lanes, 405 Centre Street, Jamaica Plain. 9:00pm. Free. (21+) (RS)
Quadricentennials
Québec is 400 years old, eh? The French Library and Alliance Française are hosting a party in commemoration, featuring live traditional fiddle music, Unibroue beer, and cheese and tourtière from Québec. Learn how to say "hoser" in French. Boston French Library, 53 Marlborough Street, 6:00pm. Free. More information. (RS)
Fashion
The Estate has a real celebrity for once--at least in the fashion world. The theme is "Prom, Parties, and Picnics." 9:00 pm, $10.
