The Drones confirm full UK/Irish Tour for November

Thursday 18th June, 2009

"Vocalist Gareth Liddiard is a songwriter of extraordinary power"... Time Out - 5/6

"What 'Havilah' does is jump up and down on the rotting carcasses of The Vines and Jet stabbing them again and again with a flag that says ‘Miles. Better. Than. You. Ever. Were."... NME

"Speaker-bleeding blues"... MOJO 4/5

"An awesome proposition. Dirty and primal, tight and threatening...you need this band in your life."... Stool Pigeon 4/5

The Drones return to the UK in Autumn 2009 for a ten-date tour of the UK and Ireland. Like their recent sold out show at London’s Luminaire and the subsequent string of European appearances, The Drones will be showcasing their recent album Havilah, out now on ATP Records.

Havilah is brimful of the intensity, innovation and integrity that have made The Drones one of Australian rock's most critically acclaimed acts. Replete with contrast, Havilah juxtaposes bombast with beauty, roaring aggression and violent guitars with sublime melancholy lyricism. Lead singer Gareth Liddiard's incendiary voice lights up the angular poetry of their songs, as he ruminates on the nature of (in no particular order), the moon (“Penumbra”), divorce (“The Drifting Housewife”), and the acquisition of godlike power and the cargo cultism of John Frum (“I Am the Supercargo”).
