Josh Pearson is the son of a preacher, hailing from Denton, Texas. In collaboration with Josh Browning and Andy Young, he formed the critically acclaimed Lift to Experience. The Texas-Jerusalem Crossroads, the first album by Lift to Experience, was released in 2001 on the British Bella Union label. It was a concept album about the end of the world, where Texas is the Promised Land, the title alone showed the strong influence of Joshuas religious upbringing The beautiful rich style of Lift to Experience has been compared to My Bloody Valentine, Godspeed! and Slint.
Lift To Experience spent the year on tour after the album was released, delighting audiences with their energizing and inspiring live shows, looking set to cross over to a huge audience. Their second release was eagerly anticipated, however, it was never to materialise. Pearson seemed to pull away from the world, retreating to a remote part of Texas.Over the years, the Lift To Experience legend has continued to grow, fuelled by the absence of a follow-up.
Bands such as Explosions in the Sky and The Duke Spirit have cited them as an essential influence on their music. Now after a long wait Pearson is back. In addition to the live shows a debut solo release is due from him later this year.
