'Locked groove psychonauts distil the wordless core of Hawkwind, Neu! and Sonic Youth....' Mojo
'...about time they receive some well-deserved attention' Rock-A-Rolla
'The British quartet rarely put a foot wrong…”Terrascope
'...continuing their excellent approach to psychedlic rock, propelling them alongside contempories like Bardo Pond, Oneida, and Kinski.' Boomkat
Influenced by krautrock, 'saucerful...' era Pink Floyd, Neu!, Sonic Youth and Oneida, Mugstar (Peter Smyth - Guitar, Keyboards, Vocals; Neil Murphy - Guitar, Flute, Viola; Jason Stoll - Bass, Saxophone; Steve Ashton - Drums, Percussion) are instrumental rock all the way from Liverpool, England.
Mugstar explode and pulse with repetitive beauty. Maintaining a power and heaviness with a supersonic mantra-like drive, their sound continually evolves, their musical manoeuvres continually expand. Their atmospheric shifts and dark unease, combined with flashing monochrome projections, make the Mugstar live experience an aural and visceral assault.
Having signed to Massachusetts' Important Records in 2010, Mugstar released two albums - ...Sun, Broken... and Lime back to back appearing at both ATP and Supersonic Festivals. Both albums were originally only released on CD and are now being reissued on vinyl formats via Agitated Records.
