NICK CAVE WINS ARIA, RECEIVES NOMINATIONS FOR APRA-AGSC AWARDS AND PREPARES FOR SECOND ATP LINE-UP ANNOUNCEMENT.

Tuesday 21st October, 2008

Nick Cave adds another feather to his cap by receiving the Best Male Artist award at this year's ARIA Awards - as voted for by the Australian record industry - for his album Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!! This comes on top of the news that Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!! was the winner of the prestigious Mojo Magazine 'Album of the Year' award and is currently in the running for both the Triple J 'J Awards' and Uncut Magazine 'Album of the Year' awards.

Nick Cave has also been nominated twice, alongside Warren Ellis (Bad Seeds/Dirty Three), in the APRA (Australasian Performing Right Association) and AGSC (Australian Guild of Screen Composers) 2008 Screen Music Awards. Their brooding soundscape to The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford is nominated in the categories of both Best Feature Film Score and Best Soundtrack Album.

Following a US tour and the completion of another soundtrack - this time for the haunting Cormac McCarthy end of the world classic The Road - Cave and his band, The Bad Seeds, are now back in their respective homes preparing selections for the second wave of acts to feature at the inaugural Australian All Tomorrow's Parties. The first wave featured an inspired selection of acts; some contemporary, some seminal, but all definitely inspirational - and the next wave promises more of the same.
